If you’ve never been to the Dayton 2nd Street Market get in your car and go this weekend, no I mean that’s what you’re doing this weekend. It is ‘duh-bomb’ (and I don’t use that word lightly or normally at all anymore), but it is seriously worthy of description that is not typical and makes someone say in response “wha-wha-what!? I need to see this place!” It’s that good.
There are over 40 unique vendors, including local farmers, bakers, culinary specialists, and artisans. This rustic historic former 1911 B&O railroad freight house reminds one of the hustle and bustle at a quaint European street market. It is truly a unique and one of a kind shopping experience for Dayton, Ohio.
My husband and I went several weeks ago and wished we wouldn’t have eaten before, because there are so many wonderful lunch options to choose from. We did snag some gourmet dog treats, coffee, fresh bread, locally grown produce, the amazing “fried cheese” from Blue Jacket Dairy, and some specialty flavor-infused Rosemary olive oil from The Olive Tree. Everything was so incredible!
My favorite had to be the olive oil though. The booth had lots of different flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars to taste with bread. I think we tried them all and they were all so delicious and full of flavor. Our favorite was the Rosemary, although they had some really unique ones like Persian Lime and Blood Orange.
So go pay them a visit, then you’ll be hooked!
